Glossary of some of the more common ‘education-speak’ that you may see or hear in your dealings with the school.

Acronym Full Name Description
AIP Annual Implementation Plan Yearly whole school plan outlining school improvement strategies and goals, ratified by School Council. Taken from SSP (see below).
AusVELS Australian /Victorian Essential Learning Standards Australian/Victorian Curriculum Framework. Curriculum content.
DET Department of Education and Training State Government department responsible for education.
ICT Information & Communication Technology Computers, devices, web tools used in schools
IT Information Technology (another name for ICT) Computers, devices, web tools used in schools
 iMPACt Moriac Performing Arts Course Moriac Primary School’s seven year performing arts immersion program. 
JSC Junior School Council Student representative body
NAPLAN National Assessment Program, Literacy And Numeracy Annual National testing program for year three, five, seven and nine students in English, Maths & Science
OSHC Out of School Hours Care program Before and after school care program operated at school
PA Performing Arts Drama, dance, performing.
PE Physical Education Health & sports education
P&F Parents & Friends Voluntary group of parents who raise funds for school initiatives and organise some whole school activities
PMP Perceptual Motor Program Program for prep students to assist in development of  fine and gross motor skills
PSD Program for Students with a Disability Formal  program for supporting students diagnosed with a physical or intellectual disability
SRI Special Religious Instruction Optional Religious Education studies (formerly called RE or RI)
SSA Surf coast Sports Association Group of seven schools in this region who coordinate inter-school sports together (Moriac PS, Ceres PS, Bellbrae PS, Mt Duneed School, Anglesea PS, Winchelsea PS and Lorne Aireys School)
